The Good People’s Lab Project is part from the Virtues Programme, which the Foundation has been working on for more than 7 years now. It aims at building a healthy educational school environment by developing kids’ emotional intelligence and the professional competences of teachers.
The deficit of positive role models in society, along with the shortage of support for the development of unique abilities in young people, is a precondition for diffidence that increases the risk of addictions, aggression, violence and human traffic. To teach youngsters how to acknowledge the virtues in others and in themselves and practice their virtues in their daily interactions is to teach them how to build their self-esteem based on virtues and achievements. The daily practice of virtues is the way to build a young person’s character so that he could make responsible choices.
The expected results of the project are to have 16 school students aged 14 – 17 years trained as virtues teachers. The will be selected from 2 high schools in Sofia. Their school psychiatrist will also undergo training. The young virtues teachers will conduct at least 12 virtues classes with their classmates during the school year. Around 750 students of different age will participate in virtues classes during the project.
